For Brittney Rodriguez, leadership isn’t just about holding a seat at the table; it’s about ensuring that table is long enough for everyone in her community to pull up a chair. As a proud alum of Austin Community College (ACC) and a dedicated member of the ACC Foundation Board, Brittney’s trajectory—from a student navigating education to a visionary community leader—is a testament to the College’s transformative power.

“ACC provided me a foundational space to begin deciphering who I wanted to be as a professional,” Brittney reflects. Recognizing the gap many students face after high school, she describes ACC as her “lifeline of connectivity.” For Brittney, it was the human element in the form of advisors and educators who made the difference, providing the guidance she needed to turn her potential into a thriving career. By illuminating the different pathways available, ACC provided the foundational coursework that empowered her to successfully transfer to St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. More importantly, it provided a community of support that remains essential to her success today.

As a student, Brittney was a scholarship recipient, an investment made possible by generous donors that ignited her lifelong passion for philanthropy. For her, the support represented far more than just financial relief. “To me, that scholarship meant that somebody believed in me and what I could become,” she recalls. That vote of confidence instilled a sense of accountability to “make good on the faith” others had placed in her. This drive to pay it forward is what ultimately pushed her toward philanthropic work, ensuring she could be that same source of belief for today’s students.

Now, Brittney’s journey has come full circle. Serving as a member of the ACC Foundation Board and Chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee, she leads with a deep sense of gratitude. “My servitude back to the ACC Foundation is about making sure that when it’s needed most, we’re continuing to carve intentional pathways for those who may not yet know where they belong, but very much belong,” she says. To Brittney, ACC is more than an institution; it is a place that feels like home. Having found a community where she never felt alone during her most transformative years, she now uses her board service to ensure those same opportunities exist for the next generation of students.

This personal history informs her fierce advocacy for the college’s future. She believes it is critical for students to understand the importance they hold within their community. “The people in school right now are the future professionals who will be making decisions for all of us,” Brittney emphasizes. To her, there is no higher priority than ensuring students receive the same life-changing opportunities she was given. By engaging with the ACC Foundation, she believes the community can collectively prove to these future leaders that they are seen, valued, and deserving of success.

As the forward-thinking leader she is, Brittney understands ACC’s role in the long-term vision for Central Texas. She often reminds herself that through this work, she is “planting seeds for trees for which I might never enjoy the shade.” While the investment of time, talent, and treasure may feel incremental, Brittney knows the cumulative impact is vital in making Central Texas thrive.“We are helping to cultivate a generation of change agents committed to contributing creatively and intentionally. We’re making the world a better place, I really do believe that.”

When the community invests in the ACC Foundation – through a donation, volunteerism, or spreading awareness – the collective impact moves Central Texas forward. Brittney invites the community to get involved with the ACC Foundation and join the mission of promoting student success. Supporting this critical work is about more than funding a classroom; it is about building the foundation for a region of teachers, medical workers, and entrepreneurs that the community will call home for many years to come.
